Friday evening, January 13, 2006
When What Where
5 - 7 pm Opening night dinner-reception at Primo Italian Restaurant, hosted by the JW Marriott Resort Hotel at Starr Pass. Welcome by Slow Food Tucson President Barry Infuso. Antipasto, plus a dish (Timpani) especially recreated from the film, "Big Night, " and wine.
Q&A discussion with chef/owner Melisa Kelly of Primo about her Irish-Italian heritage and how her heritage became a guiding force in her philosophy of food.

8 - 10:30 pm Screening of the movie, "Big Night."
Q&A discussion on Italian-American food tradition & culture.

Saturday, January 14
11 - 12:30 pm Mexican brunch. Chef Mary Sue Milliken, "Big" Jim Griffith and the cook who prepares tortilla soup at Agave Restaurant will discuss Mexican-American food tradition and culture. Agave Restaurant at the Desert Diamond Casino, I-19 & Pima Mine Rd.
2 - 4 pm Screening of the movie, "Tortilla Soup."
Q&A panel discussion with Chef Mary Sue Milliken (one of the "Two Hot Tamales" who produced the food for the film), Tucson's Chef/Owner Janos Wilder and two U of A Press authors will focus on diverse regional cuisine of Mexico and the food traditions and culture of the Mexican family in the U.S. & Mexico.
Crossroads 6 Theater
6 - 9:30 pm Dinner followed by presentation of Slow Food Tucson awards. A community organization will be awarded for demonstrating the principles of sustainable agriculture and use of traditional foods and methods.
Screening of feature documentary film short featuring Prince Charles addressing the Slow Food conference in Milan, Italy, as well as a new film short, "Five Feelings about Food." Remarks by Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup.

Sunday, January 15
11 - 12:30 pm A traditional, sumptuous Chinese meal (sponsored by 17th Street Market). Discussion on Chinese-American food traditions and culture. Rose Garden Restaurant, 1800 E. Ft. Lowell, Tucson
1:30 - 4 pm Screening of "Eat, Drink, Man, Woman" followed by guest apeakers who will discuss cultural traditions of old & new China, as well as the American immigrant experience of the Chinese who came to Tucson. Crossroads 6 Theater
